1957 Cessna 172

EXTERIOR:

 

•White / two tone blue stripes (Repainted in 1985).

•The paint is 7 or 8 on a 10 point scale.

•Very light hangar rash on the flying surfaces.  This was present when I purchased the plane 10 years ago.

•Wheel pants included.

•The early 172’s did not have an external baggage door.  I have purchased a baggage door and the STC to have it installed.  You will need to paint it and have it installed.

 

 

INTERIOR:

 

•White / Cream, Blue & Silver Fabric seats.

•New interior by Hangar Bay Interiors summer 2004.

•The interior is a 9 on a 10 point scale.  The headliner was not replaced during the new interior installation.

•New Ultra Visor tinted sun visors installed 2004.

•Ashlight ashtray lights installed 2004

 

 

INSTRUMENT PANEL:

 

All of the instruments with the exception of the manifold pressure gauge are either internally lit or lighted with NuLites.  I had an electronic dimming system installed in 2003.  The following instruments have been replaced within the last couple of years:

 

•Directional Gyro

•Altimeter

•Artificial Horizon

•Vertical Speed

•Tachometer

•Oil Pressure

•Oil Temperature

•Vacuum gauge

•Davtron M800 Clock / Timer 

•Cylinder Head Temperature

•Electronics International Volt / Amp meter

•ICOM A200 Com radio

 

 

AIRFRAME:

 

•37 gallons in two wing mounted fuel tanks.  Fuel burn is 8.0 – 8.5 gallons per hour.

•Wing mounted landing light.

•Wing tip strobes.

•There was some wind and hail damage to the plane in 1967 and 1987.  All repairs done with Cessna parts and form 337’s.

•There is some minor hangar rash on the tail surfaces.  This was present when I bought the plane 11 years ago.

 

 

HISTORY:

 

•The plane is flown regularly so these times will change.

•TT Airframe JUST 2660 since new.

•Continental O300 six cylinder 145 HP engine.

•760 since major overhaul (1800 TBO).

•Annual performed December 2004.

•Compression is 75 / 78 / 78 / 75 / 68 / 75

•Complete logs since new.

•Aircraft always hangared for the last 20 years.

•Four place intercom installed 2001.

Battery replaced 2002.

•Nose tire replaced in 2002

•Pilot side tire replaced in 2003

•New 50 amp alternator installed 2003.

•New muffler tail pipe extensions installed 2003.

•New #1 cylinder installed 2003.

•Starter rebuilt 2004.

•New Cleveland brakes installed 2004.

 

 

2004 Annual Inspection:

 

•New four place intercom installed, this one has a pilot ISO and CREW switch.

•Carburetor completely rebuilt.

•Right muffler replaced.

•New ignition harness put on.

•Suction gauge added to panel with light.  Restrictor added to restrict the suction to 5.5”.

•New ELT batteries

•Static system check.

•Instrument panel buttons replaced with bolts and rivnuts.

•Upper windshield crack fixed (small and unnoticeable)

•New door hinge pins.  Doors can now be taken off the plane in seconds.

•New door seals.

•New pilot side seat track.

•Nose wheel shimmy dampener rebuilt.

•Cylinder 2 & 5: re-rolled flange to stop minor oil leak.

•Throttle cable rerouted to remove binding.

•Cabin heat control reworked, it works better now than it ever has.

•Propeller repainted.

•Spinner dents removed and repainted.

•New compass installed.

•Rebuilt engine primer.

 

 

Asking price is $35,000.  With all the little modifications I’ve had done over the last couple of years, you will not fine a finer or better maintained 172 on the market.
